  • Civic Action, Learning, & Leadership (C.A.L.L.) Fellowship

    What is the

    C.A.L.L. Fellowship

The Civic Action, Learning, and Leadership (C.A.L.L.) Fellowship is a cohort-based program for young adults who want to connect their gifts and stories to the work of building more just communities. Established in 2023 as part of the Center for Religion, Arts, and Culture at Broadway UMC, this program enables fellows to explore how civic action, community engagement, and leadership can be woven into their educational, professional, and public lives.

    Who are the fellows?

The fellows are undergraduate students who are emerging leaders, organizers, artists, and community-builders. Many are first-generation college students or from under-resourced neighborhoods, and they bring lived experience from workplaces, churches, and community organizations such as Kheprw Institute, Constructing Our Future, IU Indianapolis, Impact Nations Church, The District Theatre, and St. Richard’s Episcopal School into the program.

    What do fellows do?

Fellows spend the year embedded in organizations and businesses, where they support real projects that advance each site’s mission while practicing civic action and leadership skills in context. They also meet monthly in a hybrid cohort, using those sessions to reflect on their site work, build specific leadership competencies, and connect their day-to-day experience to larger questions of vocation and public life.
